  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree required (May graduates are encouraged to apply).

License/Certification Required
Valid drivers license is required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Transfer Student Mentor, Resident Assistant, Orientation Leader, Student Club/Organization Leader, or similar role.
  • Experience planning and facilitating events. Management of social media accounts.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Transfer Transition and Engagement, this position will:

Engagement
  • Develop and implement programming out of Transfer Admissions & Engagement relevant to online and main campus transfer student\xe2\x80\x99s needs to be engaged and develop a sense of belonging.
  • Create a supportive and engaging environment through the Transfer Student Center in Mountain Laurel Hall. Ensure that the space is meeting the needs of our transfer students.
  • Create and monitor a virtual community for students in our App State Online programs.
  • Serve as the advisor for Omega Nu Lambda, the online student honor society. Identify qualified students for invitation, extend invitations and market the honor society, plan and oversee the induction ceremony, and work with student leaders to offer engagement events for members.



Transfer Student Mentors
  • Recruit, select, train and supervise Transfer Student Mentors (TSM\xe2\x80\x99s)
  • Coordinate a training program to equip TSM\xe2\x80\x99s to perform the functions of their job.
  • Assign responsibilities to TSM\xe2\x80\x99s such as event engagement, call campaigns, student outreach, etc.
  • Match TSM\xe2\x80\x99s to students needing outreach through TSM Cares. Follow up with the TSM\xe2\x80\x99s on outcomes.
  • Maintain a schedule of events in which TSM\xe2\x80\x99s will be utilized to support transfer initiatives on campus
  • Develop and implement an online student Transfer Student Mentor program to support our online students


Transition
  • Communicate with new and current online transfer students through email newsletters, social media, Engage, and other mediums to ensure students are fully aware of university resources and events, Transfer Admissions & Engagement, and student success strategies
  • Host a series of virtual events for online confirmed students each semester to assist on transitional needs and success.
  • Help plan and host transitional events to ensure that the transfer student experience meets the unique needs of transfer students, i.e., Transfer Pre-Orientation Program (T-POP), Transfer Orientation and Welcome to App events.

Other
  • Support Enrollment Management by working events like Open House, Commencement, etc.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Normal operating hours of the University are Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday, 8am \xe2\x80\x93 5pm. This position requires a variable schedule including evening and weekend work during the fall and spring semesters.
Would be expected to drive a van during events so a valid drivers license is required.
