Pathways Strategic Teaching Center is a year-round comprehensive education and treatment program, servicing children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other related disorders. Founded in 1988 through a collaborative effort between the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center and local parents of children with autism, Pathways is committed to utilizing scientifically validated teaching methodologies in improving the lives of individuals with ASD and their families.

Pathways education and treatment strategies are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Individually tailored curricula address speech and language, pre-academic and academic skills, daily living and self-care skills, play and social skills, vocational skills, and assessment & treatment of challenging behavior.As a Transition Support Specialist, you will be responsible for: Implementation of behavior analytic educational and treatment programs of transition age youth (age 14-22) in the classroom and the community, under the direction of the Director of Special Education, Clinical Director, Supervising Behavior Analyst, Lead Behavior Analyst, Transition Coordinator, Behavior Analyst, Behavior Specialist, Supervisory Educator and/or Lead Behavior TechnicianCollecting data with individual student measurement systems and participate in data managementImplementing treatment plans with fidelity and manage crisis situations using the designated crisis management system to ensure safety of the students and staff membersProviding hands on training and support to students at a variety of work locationsMonitoring and evaluating student progress and performance at job sites as well as participate in ongoing communication with the Transition Coordinator, employers, parents, and IEP team personnel to facilitate long-term employment for studentsProviding on-the-job customized and integrated supports to enable students to acquire the skills necessary for competitive employmentRecognizing the need for accommodations and using the tools and information to provide the accommodations needed to be successful in a vocational/integrated work settingParticipating as a member of student IEP teams and in daily clinics, attending trainings, and assisting in creating and organizing lesson materialsPerforming all other duties and job assignments as required by SupervisorsEducation/ Requirements: Minimum of a Teachers Assistant Certification or Associates degree requiredBachelor\'s degree preferredJob coach experience, training, or certification preferredExperience working with children in a teaching capacity preferredExperience with evidence -based practices and data collection preferredExperience managing problem behavior preferredExperience teaching functional daily living skills preferredMust be able to learn individualized student programming with an emphasis on Applied Behavior Analytic principlesMust be able to receive feedback and specific direction from supervisorsMust hold a valid drivers license, automobile insurance and own the vehicle to be used, to provide transportationOur mission is to promote an enhanced quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
