Responsibilities:

• Lays out, constructs, alters and repairs a variety of simple to complicated tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges.
• Must be able to set up and operate a variety of tool room and machine shop power machines that include CNC mill with radial drill, surface grinders.
• Also uses power hand tools and a variety of machinists and toolmaker hand tools.
• Must be able to perform preventive maintenance tasks on all CNC machines and drills
• Requires the competent use of micrometers, caliper gauges, scales, vernier calipers, vernier height gauges, dial indicators, hole \xe2\x80\x93 telescope \xe2\x80\x93 and surface gauges, levels, squares and Rockwell hardness tester for checking work.
• Works on ferrous and non-ferrous materials used in the trade and includes, epoxys, forgings, aluminum, stainless, galvanized, tool steels, bronze, brass and copper.
• Required to harden, temper and anneal parts and check hardness.
• May assist in the training of apprentices.
• Must be able to shear punches into dies to assure proper alignment of parts.
• Required to set up and test dies under actual operating conditions in a variety of production mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
• Must understand complex die and assembly prints.
• Works from design prints and sketches when laying out and constructing dies.
• May build and construct dies without benefit of design.
• May work from assembly drawings, sketches or parts when making jigs.
• Normally works to very close tolerances.
• Responsible for producing parts in a proper manner that meets quality control standards.
• Must be safety conscious and be familiar with safety precautions for handling different chemicals.
• Must own and furnish personal hand tools to perform basic trade fundamentals. Tools will be maintained and/or replaced by the company.
• Works from supervisor\'s written and verbal instructions.
• Must understand all labor reporting methods and how to use a computer.

• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Handle potential hot and humid conditions.
• Regular standing, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Pushing & Pulling up to 30 pounds

• Tool & Die Journeyman\'s Card or a Associate of Applied Science Degree in Machine Tool Technology (Tool & Die)
