Job Description

:

Tool Makers are responsible for maintenance and repair of Progressive and Transfer Dies. There are 160 new tools for the 2 new GM programs. They do not build tools, they are already built and they need to be maintained. They will be using machine shop tools to complete their work.

Shifts:

1st: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

2nd: 3 p.m. - 11 p.m.

3rd: 11 p.m. - 7 a.m.

Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays

Responsibilities As a Tool & Die Maker:

• Perform extensive die maintenance such as rebuilding die sections, re-timing pads and forms and engineering changes on all types of dies
• Make decisions and judgments about proper course of action for repair and maintenance
• Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures to recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part
• Determine specifications for inspection of work, using full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before, during and after machining
• Maintain tool improvement program that is data driven and successful in providing ongoing improvement related to die and tool performance
