Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the department of Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School. The Temporary Research Assistant will be responsible for performing analysis to support the programmatic goals of the faculty and staff at the New Jersey Medical School utilizing the Public Health Institute.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs research involving testing for antibody detection by ELISA.
  • Performs research involving cell lines and imaging techniques.
  • Performs experiments involving SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious and non-infectious agents, as assigned by the PI.
  • Maintains experimental data in Excel spreadsheets or equivalent.
  • Generates, compiles and presents experimental data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to research activities.
  • Interfaces with other research group in collaborative projects, including shipping and handling materials received from/to collaborators.
  • Presents scientific/research contents in institutional, national and international forums.

Qualifications



Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD in a life science discipline.
  • Must also be experienced with DNA extraction for primary human cells and PCR analyses.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in the deployment and management of sophisticated equipment for the automated handling of liquids and automated ELISA protocols for antibody detection in various bodily fluids.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must demonstrate advanced understanding of computer operating systems and programs including but not limited to Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must be service oriented and proactive with the ability to remain productive, focused and flexible, particularly when working on projects with strict deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
