Job Title: Telehealth Coordinator-Clinical Operations

Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating and performing a variety of both complex and routine clinical, clerical and support duties. Facilitates patient flow, EMR scheduling, registration and intake for telehealth patients. Coordinates with clinical team, departmental stakeholders and outside groups as necessary to ensure a smooth operation.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years related experience in a healthcare setting or at least an Associate\'s degree with two (2) years related experience in a healthcare setting. EMT OR EMD preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Verbal and written communications skills.

Basic computer operations skills and knowledge.

Basic clinical and medical terminology knowledge.

Critical thinking and decision making skills. Protocol based decision making skills. Ability to simultaneously operate and answer multiple telephones and requests.

Responsibilities
  • Receives and handles incoming phone calls for the center for telehealth and leverages appropriate resources to ensure an accurate and timely response to issues or request. Escalates as necessary.
  • Obtains clinical diagnosis and patient demographic information and makes direct contact with the UMMC physicians and/or specialty service.
  • Receives and conveys complete and accurate verbal and written messages.
  • Receives and documents all clinical and demographic information into the EMR for telehealth patients.
  • Performs daily operational duties for the center of telehealth including, but not limited to equipment and connectivity checks and management of incoming calls. Assists with dissemination of information and processes to internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitates the scheduling and registration of telehealth patients in the EMR.
  • Maintains and verifies the quality and accuracy of all communications and documentation in the EMR. Ensures the successful completion and return of documentation to partnering sites.
  • Follows specialty service and clinical department protocols in triaging and handling outside phone calls.
  • Receives, coordinates, and relays the request for new services.
  • Compiles statistics, prepares reports, and maintains accurate and detailed logs of telehealth encounters and related activities.

Requires occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, constant sitting, occasional standing, constant twisting, and frequent walking.
