Responsibilities

Peraton is currently seeking skilled and qualified candidates for their Systems Engineer position. The Systems Engineer will be able to design, implement and operationally support security infrastructure projects utilizing the breadth of Cisco Networked devices including Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus services. Strong knowledge of IPv6, SolarWinds and Cisco networking equipment will be required. In addition, the Network Engineer will perform Project Management functions to include the development of a project plan in compliance with the customer\xe2\x80\x99s SDLCM. Work to collect requirements from the diverse customer base, perform the appropriate analysis, develop the strategic roadmap, and all associated documentation. Off-hours work will be required.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

• Provide a high level of technical understanding for problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Interact with Hardware and Software vendors to address issues when necessary.
• Use escalation standards and personal judgment to ensure timely resolution of problems.
• Provide training and support to employees when necessary.
• Accept and resolve escalated trouble tickets from Service Desk
• Work On-Call shift rotations with other members of the department
• Deployment and troubleshooting of network equipment such as Cisco routers, switches,
• Deployment and Troubleshooting of Remote Access Solutions (Cisco AnyConnect and Cisco ASA\xe2\x80\x99s, Cisco ISE)
• Deployment and Troubleshooting of security product suite including WSA, StealthWatch, Splunk, and IPS.
• Generate Build of Materials, Cost Estimates and Solution recommendations
• Respond to cyber incidents as defined in incident response SOP\xe2\x80\x99s.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor\'s degree with 5+ years related work experience, master\xe2\x80\x99s degree with 3+ years related work experience or high school diploma/equivalent with 9+ years related work experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship
• Experience with Cisco hardware and software (Cisco Switches, Routers, IOS) (6500\xe2\x80\x99s, 4500\xe2\x80\x99s, 2960\xe2\x80\x99s, 3850\xe2\x80\x99s, Nexus 7000\xe2\x80\x99s, 9300\xe2\x80\x99s, 5525, 4125, ASA\xe2\x80\x99s, FSMs, ISE)
• Experience with Windows, Windows Server, Linux and Unix (Solaris) OS
• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANS and routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) and WAN (MPLS) protocol
• Experience with Cisco Wireless, VOIP, and Video Networks
• Understanding of IP services (DHCP, TFTP and DNS)
• Experience troubleshooting with usage of tools such as ping, telnet and trace route
• Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical executives and managers
• Competent administrator of mixed-technology solutions
• Act as part of a structured operations team in support of resolving technical issues
• Availability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during off-work hours and/or extended hours when outages or projects required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CCNA and/or CCNP Security Certifications are preferred.
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent documentation skills
• Experience organizing large amounts of data in a logical manner.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
