Responsibilities
Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene in all aspects of food handling and preparation
Develop innovative menu items that align with customer preferences and current culinary trends
Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of seafood, rice, vegetables, and other supplies
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow during busy service hours
Uphold cleanliness standards in the sushi station, including knife skills and equipment maintenance
Assist in catering events or special functions requiring sushi preparation and presentation
Experience
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a fine dining or Japanese cuisine setting
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques specific to sushi, sashimi, and related dishes
Demonstrated expertise in knife skills for precise slicing and cutting of seafood and vegetables
Experience with menu planning to create balanced and appealing sushi offerings
Background in food safety practices within the food industry or restaurant environment
Familiarity with kitchen operations, food handling procedures, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness
Prior dietary aide or dietary department experience is a plus for understanding special dietary needs
