SURVEY INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN

Salary:

$20.04 to $33.83 Per Hour. Pay Grade 18.

Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.

Performs land surveying calculations and measurements. Measures accurate angles and distances, using advanced surveying instruments such as transit levels, theodolites, lasers, electronic measuring devices, and Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. Will be required to work in the woods, swamps, beaches, canals, lakes, traffic, and in areas with high grass, soft sand, insects, and snakes. Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry is required. Must be skillful in the use and care of survey instruments to produce accurate measurements. Drives vehicles to sites to perform topographical and hydrographic surveys; collects data; takes survey notes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in the operation of all survey instruments.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH

:

Trimble Survey Controllers (TSC) or Trimble GPS R12 Units (must specify on application)

; using GPS equipment. Also desirable: Participation in the Certified Surveying Technician (CST) Program and/or coursework in land surveying

(must specify on application).
