We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and personable Surgical Coordinator to join our team full-time. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with patients, thrives in a fast-paced medical environment, and takes pride in ensuring that every surgical case runs smoothly from start to finish.

Responsibilities

As a Surgical Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in providing a seamless experience for both patients and physicians by coordinating surgical procedures from start to finish.

Key Duties:

Schedule surgical and in-office procedures per physician orders. Verify insurance coverage and confirm patient eligibility. Calculate potential out of pocket costs for patients. Obtain and track authorizations and referrals for surgeries and procedures. Counsel patients regarding surgical processes, pre- and post-operative care, and financial obligations. Collect patient payments and ensure all required pre-surgical documentation is complete. Prepare and maintain booking sheets, anesthesia paperwork, lab results, medical clearances, and consent forms. Provide post-operative instructions and ensure patients understand aftercare plans. Maintain physician surgical schedules and coordinate with surgical facilities as needed. Screen, distribute, and respond to faxes, emails, and patient inquiries promptly. Maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance at all times.

Qualifications

1-2 years of medical office experience required.

Experience with surgery or procedure scheduling preferred. Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills. Proficiency in computer systems; AthenaHealthexperience preferred. Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize effectively. Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong patient service focus. Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday In-person, South Tampa location Schedule may vary based on patient and physician needs
