What\'s the role?

The Privacy Platform team is seeking a Staff Privacy Analyst to help craft our risk-informed technical roadmap and partner with product and engineering teams to identify and mitigate privacy risks before they make it to production.

You\'ll bring your privacy expertise to help us prioritize all of the work we have ahead of us to enable privacy by design, measure and prioritize risks against a control framework, and advocate for privacy reviews in the software development lifecycle. You\'ll work with the leads on the team to evangelize Privacy Platform\'s roadmap and value to the company, and your engineering proficiencies allow you to understand the technical details and communicate them to non-technical team members.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager, Privacy Platform and the base salary range will be 137,000.00 - 177,000.00 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role requires your presence in Etsy\'s Brooklyn office in an in-person or flex capacity. Learn more about our Flex and Office-based work modes and workplace safety policies .

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Adopt and maintain a control framework for measuring our program maturity reporting to the board of directors and other privacy partners
• Assist with building a gap-directional technical roadmap for the team
• Provide deep analysis and recommendations for how engineering efforts across the company can affect user privacy or our efforts
• Build strong ties with our legal and engineering counterparts
• Own the technical privacy review process

Qualifications

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• Strong privacy opinions, loosely held
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Instincts for privacy tradeoffs
• Ability to convince, empower, and collaborate with team members
• Experience with NIST-P or other privacy frameworks
• CIPT Certified Information Privacy Technologist IAPP
• Product management or business analysis experience
• Engineering background (ability to read code, write SQL, wrangle data to generate insights) preferred
