AECOM\'s Design and Consulting Services legal department is actively seeking an experienced attorney for immediate employment. The successful candidate will provide legal assistance to its East Region, with an emphasis on claims in its Latin America operations.

Our ideal candidate must possess a strong work ethic, flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters. These attributes coupled with leadership skills and a collaborative mind-set are essential for success and growth into a broader role within a global legal department. The ideal candidate must also have verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English.

This position can be based from any US office or in Latin America, as long as the candidate has a license to practice in the US and experience in handling claims in Latin America.

Responsibilities of this position may include, but not be limited to:

  • Providing support to resolve simple to complex business issues through informal negotiations to formal dispute resolution;
  • Assisting project teams on responding to change orders, claims or other issues related to on-going projects, including large infrastructure projects;
  • Preparing reports, memoranda, correspondence, and other documents as necessary;
  • Multi-tasking on various time-sensitive contractual and other legal matters;
  • Negotiating contractual terms and conditions for master service agreements, design-build and other alternative delivery agreements, consortium agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders etc. of various dollar amounts;
  • Participating in and supporting business development activities including cross-functional review of RFQ/RFP requirements for professional services (engineering, construction management, environmental, and other technical services), collaboration with senior managers in the legal department to obtain approval of non-standard contract terms, identi\xef\xac\x81cation of risk and opportunity, and development of risk mitigation plans;
  • Coordinating with the company\'s entity management department and personnel on corporate compliance matters and production of inter-company documentation as required by the finance and accounting department, tax department or other AECOM personnel;
  • Communicating with clients, governmental authorities and other stakeholders;
  • Working cooperatively with a diverse group of professionals, including the company\'s executives, attorneys, risk and insurance managers, engineers, scientists and procurement staff, as well as the ability to work with attorneys and contract management staff for external clients and subcontractors;
  • Participating in legal department calls to provide updates on current matters and to assist with fair workload distribution between other team members;
  • Using on-line databases to document work and maintain updates;
  • Conducting training across different functional areas on terms and conditions, corporate policies and risk mitigation; and
  • Supporting the legal department\'s goals for diversity, equity and inclusion amongst the legal department, company and outside vendors.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • US Law Degree and US Law License
  • The ideal candidate must also have verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English.
