Special Projects & Investigations/Assistant Chief Photographer

Job Summary:

WINK News - Southwest Florida\'s News Leader is seeking a talented and highly motivated Special Projects News Photographer to join our growing special projects & investigative team. As a Special Projects News Photographer, you will play a crucial role in capturing compelling visual stories and providing unique perspectives on various projects and investigations. Your creativity, technical expertise, and ability to adapt to different environments and situations will be instrumental in delivering high-quality visual content that engages and informs our audience. This position requires flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for visual storytelling.

Responsibilities:

• Visual Storytelling: Capture and produce visually compelling and informative images that tell stories.
• Photography Equipment: Possess in-depth knowledge of professional-grade cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment.
• News Coverage: Collaborate with the news team to cover feature stories, and special projects along with long term investigations.
• Field Work: Be ready to work in fast paced and challenging environments, including on-location shoots, in various weather conditions, and sometimes in high-pressure situations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with special projects team of reporters to discuss story angles, and plan visually impactful coverage.
• Ethical Standards: Adhere to the highest ethical standards in journalism and respect legal and privacy guidelines while capturing and publishing visual content.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as a news photographer or photojournalist, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency shooting and editing.
• Photography Skills: Expertise in digital photography techniques, including composition, lighting, and post-processing, with the ability to adapt to various shooting conditions.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using professional-grade photography equipment, as well as industry-standard software for shooting and editing.
• Adaptability: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adjusting quickly to changing assignments, priorities, and deadlines.
• Flexibility: Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle the physical demands of fieldwork.
• Ethics and Integrity: Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct in journalism, with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and respect for privacy and legal guidelines.
• Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio showcasing a range of photographic work, including news coverage, feature stories, and special projects, highlighting storytelling abilities and technical expertise.
• Education: A degree or diploma in photojournalism, journalism, visual arts, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
