, is looking for a

Soil & Material Testing Technician III

to perform quality assurance testing and sampling for soil, aggregate, concrete and asphalt materials for use in City-wide projects in accordance with applicable City, State and Federal procedures.

What You'll Do:

Laboratory Testing

- Conduct soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt testing in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO standards, to include classification, compliance, and performance testing, as well as calibration of lab equipment.

Field Testing

- Perform in-situ site condition tests, coring, density testing, plant monitoring, and sampling and collect and transport materials and equipment to/from job sites.

Sample Documentation

- Manage receipt, labeling, tracking, and custody of samples; prepare and submit test records; and log and schedule field-testing requests.

Safety & Housekeeping

- Practice lab/field safety protocols, participate in safety reviews and CPR/First Aid training, and ensure lab facilities, equipment, and vehicles are maintained. Perform other duties and responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States of a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Two (2) years of experience involving the testing and analysis of soils and materials for engineering and construction purposes.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT

Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required. The current vacancy requires a valid Type 3 (automobile) license, prior to appointment.
