Alternate Perspectives, Incorporated (API) has an immediate opening for a Social Development Specialist at one of our operated Job Corps Centers.

If you want to be a part of a dynamic team that helps young people ages 16-24-years-old, this job is for you! You will be a part of the nation\'s most successful youth training and education program for the past 50 years.

As a Social Development Specialist, you will be responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and predictable environment in dormitory supervision of Job Corps trainees in their daily activities. Responsible for the administration and monitoring of students engaged in recreation activities, including center sponsored activities and events on and off center. Responsible for monitoring students in their progress in attaining independent living skills, performance goals, and objectives and utilizing behavior management and intentional and consistent Core Value driven practices. Conducts dormitory guidance to students to in maintaining a positive, safe, clean, and secure dormitory environment to support and assist students achieve their maximum potential in the program.

Some Additional Essential Functions :

  • Provide guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory and recreation areas and to accomplish their education and training goals and objectives.
  • Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification, and acting as a mentor.
  • Conducts daily safety inspections of assigned area and reports/documents all Facility or Safety related issues.
  • Ensures that Student Wake up procedures are followed, and that the MAC is signed by each present student (Student Accountability). Enter required attendance information into CIS and ensure all pass information is correct. Prepares additional correspondence as needed.
  • Maintains bulletin boards in assigned areas with updated student and center information.
Work Schedule:
Social Development Specialist work 3:00 pm - 12:00 am (Weekend availability preferred). There are flex scheduling options available.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience Requirements :

High school diploma or equivalent and one year\'s experience working with youth. Post-secondary education credits/degree preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record.
