Family Promise Overnight Staff Location: Plainfield, Indiana
Hours: 40/week,

We work to ensure everyone in our community has a home they can afford and the opportunity for economic stability. Program Overview Almost Home with Family Promise is an emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness in Plainfield, IN. Up to 6 families stay overnight at Almost Home for typically 30-60 days before they move into their own home. Key Responsibility This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment in our shelter. The overnight staff is responsible for ensuring that shelter guests are able to have their essential needs met and safety is maintained. Summary of essential job functions and responsibilities:

- Empathy and compassion
- Monitor Almost Home to ensure the safety of all guests and staff
- Assists with coordination of responsibilities such as guest move-ins and move-outs, meals, and facility upkeep.
- Support in de-escalating conflicts involving guests using a trauma-informed care model.
- Respond to any crisis using de-escalation techniques.
- Track guest check-in/check-out and maintain daily guest log.
- Maintain documentation for every resident
- Support facilities operations.
- Supervise the general areas regularly
- Ability to remain calm, professional and de-escalate emotional situations
- Display strong conflict resolution skills
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Implement all policies and procedures to operate the shelter
- Assist volunteers with dinner and donations
- The nature of the work involves maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the facility. The job requires some activity and the ability to lift and bend repeatedly
