JOB SUMMARY:

This position supports GAS business Operation Services to provide thought leadership and strategic technology direction to the business. At its core, this position ensures that our technology investments (cost, people, and infrastructure) are optimal, adheres to standards and is aligned with needs of the business. Consideration must be given to all project delivery components, including resources, hardware, software, business processes and outside services.

The Technology Planning Analyst is depended on to provide thought leadership direction and decisions based on emerging technologies, industry trends, best practices, and sound business processes. Planning and analysis responsibilities include defining and supporting investments that enable achievement of business objectives and advance the company\xe2\x80\x99s capabilities to provide a competitive advantage. The position builds and maintains strategic partnerships, clarifies and documents needs and business processes, elicit requirements, and supports business cases.

The position will oversee active technology projects, to ensure effective requirements gathering, ideation, support business case development in partnership with multiple stakeholders and contractors, technology evaluation and acquisition, and overall planning and delivery activities. This position will report into the BOTS organization under the leadership in this organization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

\xc2\xb7 BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field is required or equivalent work experience.

JOB EXPERIENCE

\xc2\xb7 5 years of experience in portfolio management, business relationship management, business analysis/consulting or experience in Operation Services business units preferred.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

\xc2\xb7 Provide strategi direction and setting priorities with the technology organization to meet the business needs.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible in managing and building an integrated roadmap with the business and technology.

\xc2\xb7 Should have the ability to work with all levels of leaders in the business and the technology organizations.

\xc2\xb7 Manage change and ensure the organization is ready to absorb the changes, in other words prepare for operational readiness.

\xc2\xb7 Be a liaison and a change agent for the business.

\xc2\xb7 Build and maintain strategic partnerships with technology to apply knowledge of the business and appropriate technology for streamlining business processes, reducing costs, improve efficiency, and improving customer satisfaction.

\xc2\xb7 Understand and articulate the mission, vision, goals, strategic and tactical initiatives of GAS Technology and the business Operation Services; develop strategic plans with the business units on a company, team, or system-wide basis.

\xc2\xb7 Understand and articulate the mission, vision, goals, strategic and tactical initiatives of the organization.

\xc2\xb7 Anticipate and communicate the business unit\'s technology needs to the technology organization to ensure that technology priorities are established, prioritized, and driven by the business needs to maximize value of technology investments.

\xc2\xb7 Communicate technology initiatives and updates and educate on technology capabilities and opportunities to the business unit and represent the business unit\'s interests/concerns/issues on these points.

\xc2\xb7 Provide active support in the development, communication, and implementation of technology strategic plans and initiatives. Consults with business stakeholders on technology capabilities and on TO products and services.

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate an account team of technology teammates and business unit management to ensure appropriate handling of business partner strategic and tactical needs.

\xc2\xb7 Support business case development which clearly articulate business requirements, options for potential solutions, financial benefit, appropriate use of technology, and value added for supported business unit.

\xc2\xb7 Provide consulting and coordination in vendor management activities, including Statement of Work, quotes, Supply Chain engagement, Requests for Proposals, vendor demonstrations, as well as assisting management with project budget planning.

\xc2\xb7 Provide leadership and consulting for budgeting of technology products and services to ensure a full understanding of technology costs within the business units.

\xc2\xb7 Build and maintain strategic partnerships within GAS Technology effectively supporting the business.

\xc2\xb7 Share technology best practices within business units, across business units, within Southern Company, and external companies.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that business unit understands the importance of common technology standards and the implications (including cost implications) of non-compliance.
