Job Description


Cox Automotive is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Product Manager to join our Advertising Product team to drive the discovery and development of digital advertising products/tools for automotive manufacturers.

This is full-time employee position based in our Irvine, CA office, and will be "hybrid" work-from-home role requiring the selected candidate to come into our Irvine office approx once a week.

In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end product discovery and development process working with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative digital advertising solutions and tools that meet the needs of our automotive clients. Ideal candidates have experience or background in digital media planning, advertising agency business, or ad operations.

What you will be doing :

Strategy/Discovery:

  • Formulate an in-depth understanding of problems by customer segment, personas, and competitive landscape to inform advertising product strategy.
  • Partner with User Experience, Marketing Research, Client Solutions, Analytics, and other key business stakeholders to observe and solicit feedback from consumers and clients.
  • Develop, manage, and optimize one or more products.
  • Identify, quantify, and effectively communicate customer market opportunities at all levels throughout the organization.
Planning:
  • Create and maintain product vision and roadmap; create business plans to secure funding; develop go-to-market strategy and value proposition. Illustrate market problems in a way that puts the problem in context. Provide relevant, timely, and easily consumable updates to all internal and external audiences.
  • Create Epics and Features ensuring alignment across products; identify and document business rules and business impact; involve appropriate stakeholders across the organization to ensure delivery team is aligned to Features and Feature acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, User Experience, Client Solutions, Marketing, Ad Operations, and Analytics to ensure alignment across products, capabilities, and fulfillment processes.
Development:
  • Build an effective relationship with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Ad Operations, Client Solutions, Marketing, Product, and User Experience.
  • Collaborate with User Experience, Ad Operations, and Client Solutions to create prototype, test, and validate proposed advertising solutions.
  • Support testing and partner with revenue and business stakeholders to develop pricing and packaging strategies while assessing impact on Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Work with Product Management, Marketing, Ad Operations, and Client Solutions teams to communicate new products, and develop go-to-market strategy, plans, and training materials.
Sales & Client Engagement
  • Partner with Client Solutions, Product Readiness, and Ad Operations teams to articulate the product vision, strategy, market positioning, and opportunity size to support generating customer and revenue pipelines for advertising products.
  • Engage with both internal partners and external customers to present product capabilities, benefits, and/or assess product market fit.
Evaluation:
  • Assess product performance against KPIs and make optimizations to improve performance.
  • Create and deliver thoughtful information to influence key market constituents.
  • Make end-of-life recommendations for non-performant products.
Functional Skills
  • Research & Discovery - Possess the skilled knowledge and ability to analyze issues to determine the root cause, determine its significance, and proactively create solutions that are in the best interest of the business. Gather and analyze data or information to formulate working hypotheses to validate.
  • Design & Planning - Identify and anticipate problems or risks and brainstorm creative solutions. Conceptualize proposed solutions from various viewpoints such as customer, consumer, and the business. Compose project plan and initiate activities to bring your idea to life. Adapt concept to feedback and mold ideas to new forms.

Respond and adjust to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on current project work. Proactively identify and address potential conflicts that impact delivery commitments and work with team members, management, and other stakeholders to re-prioritize as necessary.
  • Requirement Analysis - Skilled knowledge and ability to elicit, analyze, and record business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a product or capability. Engage with the customers, users, and other stakeholders to extract and gather requirements. Navigate deliverables, challenges, conflicts, and expectations associated with requirements analysis
  • Technology Savvy - Skilled knowledge of technology and its ability to improve work processes and results (e.g., enhance productivity, efficiency, collaboration, quality, or customer satisfaction). What we require from you:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in related field such as Business, Marketing, Advertising, Computer Science or related field plus 4+ years of relevant work experience; or a Master\'s degree plus 2+ years of relevant work experience; or a PhD plus 0-1 years of relevant experience
  • In lieu of a degree, qualified candidates would require 8+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience working with advertising agencies, automotive manufacturers, or related industries is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in digital media advertising and/or product management, with a track record of delivering successful digital advertising products or media strategy recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising technologies, capabilities, and ad serving tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to lead product development from ideation to launch, managing and motivating cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Actively seeks out new knowledge for own personal development and the mentoring or coaching of others.
  • Develops a wide breadth of knowledge across the industry or business.
  • Working experience with ad serving capabilities/technologies and ad creative solutions.
  • Working experience in creating, prioritizing, and recommending strategies or solutions.
  • Working experience with executive and/or client presentations.
  • Experience with Agile product development methodologies is a plus.
  • Passion for technology, digital advertising, and the automotive industry.
