Job Description

Role: Senior Product Designer (Remote)

Department: Design

Reports to: Head of Design

Summary

Publishing.com helps normal, everyday, people create meaningful streams of income with books. We are an online-education company that teaches our students how to sell books and audiobooks on Amazon and Audible. We aren\xe2\x80\x99t for authors, but for anyone that would like to create consistent streams of passive income.

Our goal is to be the one-stop shop for everything publishing related. This year we are making massive strides towards achieving this goal by launching our own software. The better we make our products and the more support we give our students, the better we can help them achieve their financial goals.

About the Role:

Publishing.com is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Software team with a focus on our new software, Publishing.ai. Reporting to our CTO, you\'ll have the opportunity to work closely with your cross-functional team of talented designers, product managers, engineers, marketers and external vendors. You will collaborate with your cross functional group to define product roadmaps and goals to create beautifully designed products. You are joining us right from ground zero, so will be a key player in the future of Publishing.ai. We expect you to lead the end to end design process and be involved in everything from research, ideation to launch. This is a fully remote role.

About the Team:

Our Software Team consists of 3 core members that work on Publishing.ai. We have one junior product designer, one product manager, and one full stack developer. Outside of these core members, you will work closely with the chief officers of the company to build the perfect user experience based on the product roadmap. Outside of just the software team, other projects you might assist with could be our website or our marketing funnels.

We are a small agile team currently in the alpha stage of our software build. For this stage we prioritised simplifying the experience so we could get to market faster. We\xe2\x80\x99re passionate about user testing and validating hypotheses with data, as well as about maintaining high standards of software quality and performance.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Work On:

  • Identifying problem areas, understanding user needs and designing solutions that enhance user onboarding, activation, retention and monetization.
  • Conducting user research initiatives to identify user needs, behaviours, and opportunities.
  • Conducting user testing to validate design solutions, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Formulate, test, and validate hypotheses together with Product Managers, other designers, and turn them into high-quality UX solutions.
  • Creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to effectively communicate and test your ideas.
  • Designing the end to end user experience of our software.
  • Strategizing the future state of our software based on the product roadmap, and designing its end-to-end experience.
  • Rapid ideation of multiple design concepts and prototypes.
  • Collaborating with the design team to create a high quality, cohesive user experience.
  • Documenting design decisions, processes, and outcomes to ensure that product designs are consistent and can be replicated in the future.
  • Collaborate with developers to reach high-quality implementations across the web and mobile experiences.
  • Measure the success of your decisions with the team and iterate when needed.
  • Helping establish, maintain and operate the Design System.
  • Training, managing and providing guidance to your junior product designer.
What We Expect From You:
  • Own the UX design strategy from start to finish, ensuring that designs meet user, technical and business requirements.
  • Every design decision is intentional. You are making informed decisions based on data and qualitative user feedback.
  • You know when it\xe2\x80\x99s time for moving fast, or slowing down. There\xe2\x80\x99s a time and place for fast scrappy designs and also a time for meticulous planning and building design systems.
  • You are detail oriented and care about consistent, clean designs.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in product-led growth
  • Iterate and drive experimentation through design.
  • Give and receive regular feedback in design critiques to improve product and web experiences.
  • Training up current and future product designers that join the team.
  • You are an excellent communicator - you know how to clearly communicate your designs to all stakeholders, whether its providing documentation or building out prototypes.
Requirements for this role:
  • 5+ years of design experience as a product designer, ideally with a b2c software with a freemium to paid product.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to design experiences that connect users to product value.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to inform design decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and can easily adapt to changing priorities. You are capable of executing with speed, without compromising on the quality of your work.
  • Ideally you have also led and managed a team of product designers in the past, or have been the main stakeholder for any projects.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially while working with cross-functional teams.
  • No ego and someone who always strives to learn more. You are willing to do the dirty work, but also proud and willing to help train others up.
  • Strong experience with Figma
  • Ideally you also have graphic design experience to assist the Design Team on occasional projects.
  • Experience working in a fully remote team environment.
