Summary: This new role will serve as a subject matter expert on financial health and economic empowerment, focused on collaborating with the rest of the Social Innovation team (and key partners across Corporate Affairs and the company) to advance and extend our financially underserved social impact agenda. You will help evolve our long-term strategy and key metrics, as well as develop and manage an aligned portfolio of partners and initiatives that deliver shared value for PayPal and our key stakeholders. : This role will directly support PayPal\xe2\x80\x99s overall mission to improve financial health and expand economic opportunity for the customers and communities we serve, with a specific focus on advancing economic equity and empowerment for underrepresented and historically excluded communities in the US and globally. Your work will build on lessons learned from PayPal\xe2\x80\x99s $535 million program to advance racial equity and social justice, and it will directly support the fulfillment of our $108 million UN Generation Equality Forum commitment. The strategy and programs you develop and advance will include opportunities to build and drive external partnerships (public, private, nonprofit) and will leverage the full breadth of PayPal\xe2\x80\x99s resources and expertise to make a distinctive and unique contribution, including but not limited to our:

  • Products and platforms
  • Employee engagement and skills
  • Financial resources through corporate, employee, and customer contributions
  • Network, voice, and thought leadership
In this role, you will support and work across the combined Social Innovation, Strategic Partnerships, and Leadership Communications team. You will also collaborate closely with other key teams in Corporate Affairs, such as our Public Affairs & Strategic Research team and our Communities, Culture, and Change team (of which PayPal\xe2\x80\x99s Employee Resource Group Program is a part). You will be comfortable building, managing, and contributing to various multi-disciplinary teams and collaborative working gropus across the company, as well as representing PayPal externally with key partners and stakeholders to advance our strategy and programs.   • Deep understanding of barriers to economic equity and empowerment for underrepresented and historically excluded communities
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge and experience building strategies/programs to improve financial health and expand economic opportunity, including experience with small business and entrepreneurship programs
  • Strong familiarity with the role of technology and financial services in supporting these long-term goals
  • Established network and set of collaborative relationships across the ecosystem of organizations and coalitions focused on this space
  • Familiarity with related issue areas and the opportunities/challenges they present for this work, including climate equity and resilience, as well as broader trends in philanthropy, public-private collaboration, and corporate engagement on issues of social/environmental importance
  • Passion for PayPal\xe2\x80\x99s mission to improve financial health and expand economic opportunity, with a strong belief that economic inclusion and empowerment is a powerful force for broader impact and that the private sector has a leading role to play in catalyzing/advancing systems change
Strategy and business acumen
  • Proven experience building business cases and mobilizing various corporate resources to create measurable social impact
  • Creative and critical thinker who approaches projects and partnerships with a strategic lens and can process/distill key insights from diverse sources of information
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable working in a matrixed environment. Keen ability to build and manage informal teams of talented and motivated professionals, across time zones and in a hybrid work environment; develops and maintains strong relationships/credibility with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels.
  • Excellent partnership formation and management skills, and demonstrated ability to prioritize and effectively manage competing projects and requests
  • Experience leveraging data and analytics for effective assessment and decision-making; commitment to ongoing measurement and learning to identify key insights that will enable us to continue to inform and iterate on our strategy/programs
Experience
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Track record of creating enduring impact, ideally with a diverse set of roles and experiences across the private, public, and/or social sectors
  • Meaningful experience with and knowledge of the stakeholders and communities we are focused on serving, in low-income and/or developing country contexts
  • Experience building coalitions, public goods, and other field and ecosystem-building
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, complex, and results-oriented corporate environment, where a high degree of flexibility and entrepreneurial mindset is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong connection to PayPal\xe2\x80\x99s mission/vision, with a deep interest in our business and the broader digital financial services space. Active commitment to living our values and Leadership Principles.
