Position Overview

Micron is seeking a Senior Director, Global Payroll Leader who is a proven professional with experience leading global payroll teams. The Global Payroll Leader is a critical member of the Finance team and is responsible for providing direction on global payroll for approximately 45,000 employees. The ideal candidate is experienced in global payroll operations and has a passion for creating innovative payroll solutions, with a proven ability to recruit, build and lead an extraordinary organization. This role will develop talent, balance capabilities, costs and service levels and work effectively cross-functionally in a rapidly changing and growing environment.

As a key leader, reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will be responsible for defining and driving efficient and effective ongoing payroll operations, support new and existing pay programs (local and global), lead vendor contracts and relationships, and drive process optimization and improvement in the controls for payroll and timekeeping globally. The position will also be responsible for the strategy for 3rd party vendors to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance in multiple countries. You will identify and develop leading practice guidance and will drive consistency and efficiencies across the team. Success in this role is dependent on leadership, organization/people development, process improvement, strategic execution, ability to deal with a constantly evolving business environment and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Fully be responsible for the global payroll operations in our Americas, EMEA and APAC regions.
  • Leads day to day activities for all aspects of the comprehensive payroll operation, including vendor management, to oversee the timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Ensures payroll services are processed in accordance with established policies and procedures along with all compliance requirements.
  • Leads the payroll team to ensure payroll operations occur on time and accurately.
  • Responsible for corporate payroll strategy, planning and communications.
  • Supervises payroll team training on policies, procedures, and changes affecting payroll processing, includes determining effectiveness and leading changes to optimize payroll processing.
  • Drives continuous improvement throughout the payroll department that reduces process waste, grows productivity and improves service levels.
  • Ensures compliance with payroll laws and regulations at ta global level.
  • Ensures appropriate metrics are in place to measure and lead service levels, business risks and improve decision making.
  • Partners with the People, Tax, Audit and the Legal teams to provide support, and accurate information as required
  • Collaboratively works with cross functional leadership teams to represent the payroll function across Finance, Human Resources, IT and other functions on strategic department and corporate initiatives.
  • Embed a culture of teamwork and continuous process improvement to drive efficiency and future scalability with excellent customer service levels.
  • Instill a performance culture resulting in meaningful cross functional business process transformation and automation to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Recruit, lead, coach, and develop payroll team members and support the continuous professional development and growth of payroll team.
  • Ensure your team is staffed, motivated, inspired, engaged and empowered to deliver a high and sustainable performance level in a constantly evolving environment at a cost level the organization can sustain and reflects market realities.
  • Ensure a learning environment is in place and your team is trained and developed to consistently achieve your organization\'s expectations in both the short and long term.
  • Establish, monitor and maintain internal controls over payroll and compensation programs.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in payroll operations, with specific background in a global, multi-national, publicly company
  • Strong background in international payroll as well as expertise in US federal, state, and local payroll taxation
  • Strong project management experience and aim to improve processes at scale
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional business partners, internal/external stakeholders
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
  • Experience in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment; semiconductor company background a plus.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$155,000.00 - $291,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
