The Road Home has been a leader in the fight to end homelessness for 100 years (1923-2023) . We provide low-barrier emergency shelters, supportive services, and housing-first-minded rental assistance that helps individuals and families step out of homelessness and back into the community. Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will perform duties relating to revenue, general accounting and a wide variety of government and private grant billing duties. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and prepare forecasts. The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating and/or managing multiple complex tasks. The Senior Accountant will ensure complete and systematic review and submission of billings to various private and government organizations.

Supervising

  • May hire, train, and oversee accounting staff.
  • May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of accounting staff.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Responsibilities * Management of compliance for all government contracts
  • Participate in independent grant monitoring\xe2\x80\x99s and audits
  • Review Contracts for financial requirements (billing, reporting, tracking, etc.)
  • Retention of contracts and contract set up forms
  • Creation and maintenance of billing calendar
  • Understand expenses allowed under contract
  • Build and maintain billings while ensuring accuracy and security
  • Help prepare Excel templates for grant billings
  • Maintain Grant summaries
  • Prepare and maintain payroll detail needed for billings
  • Assist in building budgets for grant applications
  • Forecast government grant spend down and advise on budget amendments as needed
  • Help budget for future grants as applications are prepared and sent out
  • Review billings prepared by Grants Billing Manager
  • Track the status of grant expenditures and balances.
  • Meet with program supervisors to review budgets
  • Report to executive team on progress and status of billings
  • Submit quarterly and annual reports to government agencies
  • Attend government grant trainings

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Accounting required (Master\xe2\x80\x99s preferred)
  • 4+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in general or tax accounting
  • Experience with computerized ledger systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment
  • Familiarity with Sage Accounting Systems a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills.
  • Willing to be a proactive member of a team.
  • Self-starter and self-directed.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong computer skills.
  • Ability to accept direction from Supervisor.
  • Knowledge of government grants a plus.
  • Knowledge of government contracts a plus.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Physical and Equipment Requirements
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for at least an hour at a time.
