With the only Level III trauma center in Katy, we\'re equipped to stabilize patients for transfer to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and Children\'s Memorial Hermann Hospital when a higher level of care is required. Memorial Hermann Life Flight ensures fast transfer to the Texas Medical Center.

The Manager of Clinical & Professional Development is responsible for the outcomes of learning, change and professional role competencies and growth under the direction of the Director of Clinical & Professional Development. This role is responsible for supporting the implementation and evaluation of healthcare education. Nursing Professional Development Practice is committed to the protection of the public and promotion of health and the provision of optimal care. The role will provide direction for onboarding and orientation, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships and research/EBP/QI.

This role is responsible for the deployment of the planning, implementation and evaluation of overall Professional & Clinical development within assigned facilities. The position will support collaboration to develop and implement strategies for meeting the professional and clinical education needs relating to health care services. The manager will be accountable for assisting in controlling and monitoring the budget, managing staff and ensuring the program is operating within established guidelines.

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.

Candidates must have the following:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a nurse educator
  • Several years of experience at the bedside
  • Master\'s degree in Nursing or a healthcare related field required
(If Master\'s degree is in a discipline other than Nursing, then Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required)

Nurse Professional Development Certification is highly desired

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Master\'s degree in Nursing or a healthcare related field required
  • If Master\'s degree is in a discipline other than Nursing, then Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
  • Certification in Basic Life Support
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) specialty required or must obtain within two (2) years of practice
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required and (2) years of leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in progressive education roles preferred
  • Experience in curriculum design, development and instruction required
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion of scientific inquiry, advocate for professional development specialty and partner for practice transitions
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and adult learning principles
  • Knowledge of related regulatory, accreditation and certification requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Manages daily operations of the department including education staff and support personnel.
  • Manages curriculum development and implementation.
  • Maintains program outcome data for the purposes of ongoing evaluation of programs to ensure appropriate outcomes. Recommends improvements and modifications as needed.
  • Ensures a comprehensive program/curriculum review process.
  • Oversees and manages academic affiliation programs to align with resource availability .
  • Manages the departmental budget.
  • Manages inter-professional growth and development by meeting requirements for initial, ongoing education and competency. Supports development through continuing education
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann\'s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
