StoneMor is hiring an experienced Risk Management Specialist-Insurance and Workers Compensation to join its corporate Legal team. This role will be responsible for overseeing and managing all property and liability claims for the company\'s lines of coverage including general liability, excess liability, property, directors and officers, crime and automobile. The Insurance Risk Management Specialist will work independently and serve as a liaison and central point of contact between the organization and its insurance carriers. The Impact You Will Make

  • Manage the workers compensation, property, auto, and general liability incident reporting program and processes, assess, and report claims to carriers as appropriate.
  • Review incident reports and determine action plan, engaging others as needed.
  • Initiate preliminary investigations on all reported losses and inspect via telephone, email and occasional on site visits depending on the severity of the loss.
  • Manage, coordinate and distribute claims information, documentation and communication to all responsible parties regularly and with a consistent cadence.
  • Review and follow up on all claims files and ensure current and accurate claim information is maintained on a regular basis.
  • Provide direction and management to third party administrators to facilitate the resolution of claims quickly and cost effectively, in respect to issues such as coverage, reserving, and responses to settlement demands.
  • Manage the company-wide Return-To-Work program for employees out of work on Workers Compensation. Coordinate return-to-work by collaborating with department managers, HR/LOA coordinators, adjusters, attorneys/legal counsel and investigators.
  • Review and respond to policy limit demands and denials of coverage.
  • Review and process invoices from insurance carriers.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly claim/metric reports for Management. Track and research trends identified through claim/metric reports; regularly provide updates on trends as part of a proactive strategy to educate and train field staff in risk mitigation.
  • Provide analysis of major loss trends, emerging claims issues, and or litigation trends;
  • Keep current on regulatory issues at the State and Federal level.
  • Participate in annual budget preparations and monitor quarterly expenditures; determine the extent of the companys liability; recommend and negotiate claims settlements with claims adjusters in conjunction with the Senior Litigation Counsel.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices related to risk management.
  • Identify potential risk exposures, recommend solutions, implement approved programs, promote loss prevention, and update and monitor compliance.
  • Recommend and draft internal claim procedure changes, and provide regular claims management training to field and department teams.
  • Assist with OSHA logs as needed.
  • Assist with the process of collecting and maintaining the companys Statement of Values for all properties with assistance from the broker.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop a plan for reducing cash collateral requirements from the current carrier and legacy carriers.
  • Prepare for and participate in annual insurance renewals with data and submission information to brokers.
About You
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelors/four-year degree in business administration, economics, finance, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • 3-5 years of experience in insurance risk management or related field.
  • Multi-site, multi-unit experience in a corporate setting strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in risk management, financial analysis, and related software.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and control.
  • Experience with auditing and reporting procedures.
  • Familiarity with industry compliance standards and regulations (e.g. Occupational Safety and Health Act).
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations and policies regarding Safety, Workers Compensation, ADA accommodations, and interrelated areas such as Family Medical Leave.
  • Computer Skills: Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Gmail, and Google Chrome required.
  • Experience with Origami Risk is a plus.
Skills:
  • Knowledge and experience with investigation protocols in order to properly investigate claims and oversee the claims management process.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills; experience designing, selecting or presenting effective training modules for corporate and field training on risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion and good judgment.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Proactive approach to risk mitigation.
  • Ability to propose creative, business-oriented solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization; able to communicate complex concepts in simple language. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; able to independently manage tasks with a sense of urgency and manage workload to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Ability to handle evolving priorities in a dynamic environment in a thoughtful and practical manner.
Work Environment:
  • The work environment is hybrid/remote.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support business needs.
  • Requires reliable internet access when working from home environment.
