We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Resident Care Aide to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care and support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, promote their well-being, and foster a warm, safe, and engaging community. Responsibilities
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to track residents' health status.
Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques to promote safety and engagement.
Support residents with developmental disabilities or other special needs through personalized care plans and direct support activities.
Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition for residents while maintaining a clean and safe dining environment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living space by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and common spaces.
Observe and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to nursing staff or supervisors promptly.
Support social work initiatives by engaging residents in social activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
Use group home experience or home & community care skills to foster a supportive environment that encourages independence while ensuring safety.
Operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively to prevent injury during transfers.
Drive residents when needed for appointments or outings, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Collaborate with team members to develop individualized care plans that reflect each resident's unique needs and preferences.
Experience
Candidates should have previous experience working in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or personal care homes with a strong understanding of long-term care practices. Experience working with people with disabilities or behavioral challenges is highly valued. Familiarity with dementia or Alzheimer's care, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, EMR systems, group home environments, and home & community care is preferred. A background in caregiving roles involving social work or behavior management will be advantageous. Certification in first aid is desirable; however, training can be provided for the right candidate.
