Wage Range: $65,000 - $80,000/year (DOE/DOQ)
ABOUT THE COMPANY
The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is a growing and developing comprehensive behavioral health organization encompassing a 45-bed capacity youth (13 to 17 years of age) residential treatment facility and outpatient clinical care. The Healing Lodge treatment program integrates traditional, spiritual and cultural values with chemical dependency and mental health counseling to create a holistic approach toward healing. Our services are open to both Native Americans and non-Native from all areas of the country.

ABOUT THE POSITION
As a key member of the NARCH XII grant staff, and as part of a four-year federally funded grant, the Research & Training Manager will have a variety of responsibilities, including, but not limited to assisting the Principal Investigators and other project staff. This individual will engage in activities designed to prepare them to engage in research tasks, as well as provide research support including, but not limited to participant recruitment, outreach, and retention, data collection, training activities, administering informed consent for research participation, data entry, data security, preliminary analyses, and dissemination activities, such as preparation of monthly e-newsletters, research snapshots, presentations, and papers. The Research and Training Manager will support Working Group meetings and help organize and execute training events. This person will facilitate all data collection events and outreach for the community-based assessments, and provide research support leading up to tribal research and training events. Additional tasks include assisting with drafting Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, uploading and monitoring Institutional Review Board applications, modifications, and continuing reviews, administering informed consent procedures, administering research surveys, complying with Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, processing research subject reimbursements, entering data, conducting literature searches, contributing to the development of training materials for a new culturally-appropriate mental health emergency response training program for tribal communities, and conducting research-related record keeping. The Research & Training Manager will work closely with the research assistant(s), delegating tasks and guiding their work. The Research & Training Manager will attend weekly NARCH XII team meetings. DUTIES

  • Provide support to the Principal Investigator (PI) for research development activities;
  • Provide support for research execution activities.
  • Attend weekly NARCH XII team meeting.
  • Help organize and administer annual working group meetings.
  • Oversee outreach activities at the involved tribes, including informing tribes about the community surveys and trainings, and working with individuals at the tribes to schedule and recruit for these activities;
  • Prepare and organize meeting materials.
  • Assist with drafting IRB protocols.
  • Upload and monitor IRB application, modifications, and continuing reviews.
  • Support research and training events, which will require travel to the seven tribal nations of the Healing Lodge, and may require overnight stays;
  • Assist in administering informed consent procedures.
  • Assist in data collection activities at the seven tribal nations of the Healing Lodge.
  • Assist in training activities at the seven tribal nations of the Healing Lodge.
  • Help to prepare written reports.
  • Help prepare written manuscripts, posters, and presentations.
  • Complete IRB (human subjects) certification
TRAVEL The candidate will be required to travel frequently to various in/out of State locations to provide mental health emergency response training to tribal communities of the seven tribal nations and serve as a lead trainer on the system at the tribal communities. Some overnight stay is projected and expected. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree required; master\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience working in a mental health field.
  • Knowledge of working in remote tribal communities and in cross-cultural contexts
  • Knowledge of using social science research methods, particularly for indigenous studies
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION
  • A valid unrestricted Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License and experience driving in all types of weather conditions.
  • Complete IRB (human subjects) certification, which can be accomplished as part of the position duties.
