Department Information





The Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research and Policy is named in honor of Otis R. Bowen, MD, former Governor of Indiana, Secretary of Health and Human Services for the United States, Chair of the National Governors Association, and committed family medicine physician. Through collaborations with state and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, academic partners, health professionals, employers, and community advocates, the Bowen Center contributes to analyzing complex health workforce issues and informing related policy and programming.

Job Summary




  • Performs complex and intricate laboratory experiments while following research techniques and procedures.
  • Develops procedures and protocols in collaboration with leadership.
  • Prepares research reports or analyses for projects.
  • Maintains safety records and ensures safety/compliance procedures and protocols are followed.
  • Provides guidance and support to junior-level staff in laboratory operations.
  • May develop, prepare, and coordinate grant applications and grant-related activities to obtain funding for research projects and related work.


Qualifications





EDUCATION Required
  • Bachelor\'s degree in related field
Preferred
  • Master\'s degree in related field
WORK EXPERIENCE Required
  • 3 years related work experience

Working Conditions / Demands





The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information





This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.

Work Location





1110 West Michigan Street, LO 200 Indianapolis, Indiana This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
