Job Description




JOB PURPOSE
To supervise the Food Service Management Companies (FSMC) to assure high quality food service programs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations, operate with maximum efficiency, exceptional customer service and financial responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the operations oversight of the National School Lunch Program, National School Breakfast Program, Summer Food Service Program, School Food & Nutrition Services, and other School Food Service Programs at regional/state Charter Schools USA sites.
  • Identify any deviation from established procedures and program requirements that may have an impact on the financial stability of the program, recommend, implement, and monitor corrective action.
  • Perform yearly evaluation of the FSMCs after receiving input from state leadership and school-based administrators.
  • Conduct annual review all audits for compliance with regulations.
  • Works with designated consultants to regularly visit schools to ensure the FSMCs are following local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitors FSMCs to Ensure that the students at Charter Schools USA receive nutritious meals and quality service in compliance with policies set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Charter Schools USA, and our Governing Boards.
  • Monitor compliance with the United States Department Agriculture (USDA) Professional Standards in self, FSMCs, vendors, and subordinates.
  • Aid school-based administrators in the free and reduced-price meal application process and evaluate program compliance.
  • Oversees collection of data for Community Eligibility Provision and USDA Verification forms submitted to the state\'s Department of Education.
  • Communicates with the state\'s Department of Education, State Leadership Team, and national office about data changes or new requirements.
  • Prepares reports and data extraction from the state and local school system when needed.
  • Collects data from the software program for standard reports to schools/charter schools and DOE.
  • Reviews and corrects daily point of sale reports regarding claims of multi- reimbursable meals.
  • Assists in retrieving, reviewing, correcting, and submitting each month\'s Claim for Reimbursement
  • Assists with Direct Certification matches.
  • Creates and implements a plan of action for special projects as needed.
  • Maintains a required system of accountability
  • Submits the appropriate forms for reimbursements and payments for SFS for all regional schools.
  • Communicates with leadership in a timely fashion regarding progress.
  • Ensure schools are maintaining appropriate documentation.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE * Ability to plan, organize, assign, direct and inspect the work of schools related to School Food Service Requirements

  • Must have the ability to work under the pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and the ability to deal with other employees in such a way as to maintain their goodwill.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to supervision and accept recommendations.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity/understanding in interpersonal relations with
persons of diverse cultures/backgrounds. * Must be organized and be able to complete task on time without lots of supervision.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • A bachelors\' degree from an accredited institution in food and nutrition, institutional food
management, business, related business-related field. * In lieu of degree, must have at least five (5) years of experience in school food service administration, management, or a related field.
  • Experience working with SFS Management company, preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:
  • Usual office working conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Travel within or outside of state.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to be able to work with computer monitors, read and interpret computer printouts, and handwritten documents.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY.
Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA\'s policy.
