The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the quality of all raw materials used in support of manufacturing operations for the aerospace and automotive markets and championing any corrective or improvement efforts with suppliers.

This position is also responsible for managing any notification of changes issued by suppliers and working with appropriate departments to perform any identified activities associated with supplier controls or supplier change notifications The SQE shall report and maintain Supplier KPIs, identify material improvement efforts and drive the implementation of supplier risk reduction and continuous improvement objectives.

The SQE must be capable of leading supplier audits in accordance with AS9100, IATF-16949 and ISO9001 standards. The SQE will also develop the inspection processes needed (both digital and manual) to ensure 100% flow down compliance with all customer drawings and other specifications. In addition, this position will support other areas of the Quality Management System as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Functions:

Responsible for all aspects of Supplier Quality System:

  • Work closely with Purchasing personnel to Define, Create/Streamline and maintain Supplier Quality Procedures
  • Conduct training on new/revised procedures to process stakeholders
  • Become a member of GUIDEP to monitor supplier issues; Become LCS-Certified
  • Create/improve/maintain Supplier Risk Matrix
  • Implement supplier questionnaire/desktop audit system ensuring that audits are done on schedule, reviewed and followed up
  • Implement supplier audit/visit schedule and conduct/document audits
  • Build and maintain ASL database to ensure all suppliers are qualified with appropriate documentation
Improve Supplier Performance Tracking:
  • Prepare KPI charts and other supplier performance information for Mgt. Review per AS9100 requirements
  • Analyze supplier performance data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Manage all aspects of Supplier Scorecard system
  • Participate/Lead MRB meetings. Trouble-shoot supplier quality and documentation issues and work with Receiving Inspector, Purchasing, and suppliers to identify and implement corrective actions. Issue SCARs as needed and document thoroughly in MQ1 database.
  • Review technical quality requirements for all purchased items to ensure proper flow-down is made on the purchase orders. Collaborate with suppliers in advance to ensure understanding of the requirements. Work closely with Receiving Inspection to identify critical quality characteristics, etc.
  • Provide backup to other QE\'s in investigating customer complaints and working with Production and the Customer to resolve them. Also, for APQP and DFM activities.
  • Serve as an internal auditor to conduct QMS audits
  • Support Customer Quality Audits and AS9100 certification audits as requested
  • Provide Quality support to Production and Quality Teams as needed. Supervise member of supplier quality team
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree (or higher) in Engineering
  • Read blue prints/drawings
  • Able to read and understand specifications
  • MS: Excel, Word, PP, etc./Intermediate skill level
  • Use of Inspection tool knowledge: calipers, micrometers, comparators, etc.
  • Proficient in report writing
  • Interpersonal skills, teamwork and Communication skills
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with Supplier Quality
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 requirements
  • Possible 10% (local) travel
  • Strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, good attendance and flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Good vision to read written materials and measuring instruments
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position, which is $77,400 to $121,100 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $85,140 to $133,210. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
