Middle River Aerostructure Systems is a world-leading manufacturer of thrust reversers (the braking system on a jet engine), engine nacelle components and specialized aerostructures. It supplies and supports these products for engine makers, airplane manufacturers and aircraft operators. Located on Maryland\'s Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, MRAS has a 1.7-million sq. ft. facility situated on 180 acres \xe2\x80\x93 where the company and its predecessors have designed, built and equipped civil and military aircraft for over 90 years. In 2019, MRAS was acquired by ST Engineering North America, the U.S. affiliate of Singapore-based ST Engineering \xe2\x80\x93 becoming a part of its global network of aerospace facilities and offices. With the ownership change, the company was renamed Middle River Aerostructure Systems.

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Quality Engineer will have full ownership of all Quality functions of the A320 neo program, particularly focused on disposition of customer identified potential product nonconformities. The individual will be responsible for ensuring all engineering and regulatory requirements are met to ensure customer satisfaction and safety. The Quality Engineer will be a part of a cross functional technical and operations team to achieve the business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Within the Program Quality Team, for assigned activities, act as owner and lead POC for issue resolution for all Quality Assurance aspects of the program.
  • Coordinate cross functional team reviews of potential defects to determine whether product is conforming with applicable specifications. If product is nonconforming, lead root cause analysis and action plan development and ensure corrective and preventive actions taken are implemented and effective.
  • Evaluate, design, develop and/or modify processes that produce conforming and compliant parts.
  • In coordination with program, engineering, and operations teams, be responsive to customer inquiries within a very limited timeframe to ensure product is properly dispositioned and work continues to progress through successful delivery to the customer.
  • Eliminate process variation and product defects through creative solutions.
  • Capture and analyze data to find trends. Use the data to drive decisions.
  • Effectively communicate and present to all levels of personnel from operators to senior leadership.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance on-time, quality delivery of product actively.
Requirements:

Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited university or college with minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality leadership role. Bachelor\'s Degree in appropriate science, engineering, and/or engineering technology field is preferred.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Quality experience, including knowledge of ISO9000 or AS9100.
  • Positive attitude and leadership characteristics.
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Able to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, experience, and education levels.
