The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) owns and operates one of the world\'s busiest airport systems, comprised of O\'Hare and Midway International Airports. Together, Chicago\'s airports offer service to more than 260 nonstop destinations worldwide, serving more than 105 million passengers each year, and generating more than $60 billion in annual economic activity for the region. The footprints of both airports continue to expand as major capital development programs are underway. These programs, known as O\'Hare 21 and the Midway Modernization Program, are designed to increase capacity and connectivity of Chicago\'s airports over the next decade and throughout the 21st century. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Function as a senior level position at the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) executing division projects on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner and Director of Marketing.

\xc2\xb7 Oversee marketing initiatives to build awareness around air service, routes, and new destinations; airport amenities such as public art, entertainment, food, and beverage; and major construction projects for both airports.

\xc2\xb7 Support marketing and air service development by preparing marketing materials, presentations and talking points and support the Managing Deputy Commissioner and Director at industry conferences, events, and meetings.

\xc2\xb7 Manage marketing communications projects that integrate digital and print advertising, social media and email campaigns, video production, and digital and print signage to market new destinations, partner airlines, existing air service routes and airport offerings.

\xc2\xb7 Provide strategic direction, marketing insight and brand guidance on the production of airport marketing materials, working cross-functionally across CDA divisions such as Concessions, Customer Service, Design & Construction, Terminal Operations, Landside & Airside Operations, Safety, Security, Human Resources, Intergovernmental Affairs, and Workforce Development.

\xc2\xb7 Work closely with internal CDA divisions, external partners and contractors, and airport stakeholders to build organizational alignment on brand strategy and positioning, as well as adherence to style guide standards for signage, print materials and digital communications.

\xc2\xb7 Collaborate with the Communications team to manage an integrated marketing calendar by gathering background information, identifying marketing opportunities, establishing marketing plans, and reviewing content.

\xc2\xb7 Create and review content for social media, website, print collateral, presentations, and advertisements within travel, tourism, and aviation industry publications, working with graphic designers, photographers, and video teams to fulfill creative requests and ensure brand consistency.

\xc2\xb7 Other duties as they relate to marketing and air service division.

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications

MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business or public administration or a field of study directly related to the responsibilities of the position, plus five years of project management work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

NOTE: Must be flexible to early and/or late meetings and occasional weekends.

NOTE: This is a 24/7 on-call operations, based on operational needs.

NOTE: Must be flexible to travel to Midway Airport, based on operational needs.

NOTE: This position requires a valid license at the time of hire.

NOTE: The candidates selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires an applicant to successfully complete an interview which will include a written assessment. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview and assessment, will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

  • Previous work experience as a Project Manager, Marketing Manager, Marketing Director, Communications Manager, Brand Manager, or Public Relations Manager
  • Previous work experience in aviation, airline, travel, tourism, or transportation industry
