Provide overall project management direction on a wide variety of construction and environmental projects. Personal initiative and critical thinking skills will be essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. The position is deadline driven, project managers must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment. Project managers must demonstrate innovation, excellent communication skills, and a high level of customer service.

Per State of Washington pay transparency law, the salary range for this position is $108,850-$160,666/year. Please note this is a tiered position. The benefits package includes Medical/Dental/Vision health insurance, PTO, and 401(K) with employer matching contribution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and approve detailed project/component-level plans.
  • Manage and oversee projects, including managing the estimating/proposal process, subcontracting process, and subcontractors\' activities; identify and recommend solutions to mitigate issues and problems encountered during various construction phases in accordance with the project scope of work, acceptable construction code/practices, and Federal and State regulations.
  • Broad knowledge of Site Work, Commercial Steel Framing, Masonry, Concrete, Roofing, Drywall, Taping, Electrical, HVAC, Flooring, Painting, Doors, Frames & Hardware.
  • Travel to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor required, and other factors in order to prepare estimates.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select trades. Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
  • Interact with clients, architects, engineers, and local Jurisdictions to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, costs, etc.
  • Develop and define acceptance criteria for all project phases/key deliverables. Close monitoring of critical milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure the project stays aligned with the strategic goals and delivers the planned/stated benefits.
  • Provide engineering and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation.
  • Collaborate with various groups within Ahtna and multiple client organizations.
  • Identification analysis of all project risks and prepare a risk response plan.
  • Proactive communication of risks to concerned stakeholders.
  • Identify and ensure the resolution of all project-level issues.
  • Manage all communications between internal stakeholders, clients, and third parties.
  • Ensure preparation of various status and progress reports with metrics for various stakeholders.
  • Align all the project components and groups to ensure project success.
  • Supervise construction field staff and tradesmen. Work closely with site superintendents in executing a wide variety of construction activities, overseeing and conducting field quality control functions with field QC staff.
  • Authoring and/or reviewing contract deliverables including, but not limited to, product or technical submittals, work plans, safety plans, sampling and analysis plans, and reports.
  • Support field staff as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Level - II
  • Provide client assistance to program managers
  • Manage scope, estimates, schedule, and budget on medium-sized projects
  • Maintain 2 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Prepare medium-sized task orders and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
Level - Senior
  • Business development assistance to program managers
  • Manage scope, estimates, schedule, and budget on large-sized projects
  • Maintain 2-3 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documents
  • Prepare task orders and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, PDF Converter Professional, Bluebeam REVU, RSMeans, and local, state, and federal databases.
  • Professional Registration such as PE, PG, or PMP
  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures

Qualification Requirements

All levels:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Physical/Environmental Sciences, or another relevant field of study.
o Experience may be substituted for education on a 1:1 basis
  • Valid Driver\'s License with a clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicle
  • Prior experience managing and estimating commercial construction.
  • Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access badges
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing
Level - II
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
Level - Senior
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

$108,850-$160,666/year
