Refugee Dream Center (RDC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization engaged in the reception, placement, and post-resettlement of refugees. Our approach is based on offering direct services to refugees and gap-filling to ensure self-sufficiency. RDC is also a strong advocacy agency for the rights of refugees. Position Overview:
The Programs Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Programs Department of the Refugee Dream Center. The Programs Assistant will be responsible for searching for and writing grant proposals, program monitoring, evaluation, reporting, data collection and analysis, and dissemination. The Programs Assistant will work closely with the Programs Manager, other managers and staff, and stakeholders to maintain accurate records, assist in program development, and contribute to the overall success of the organization's mission. The goal includes the objectives below, as well as any other tasks assigned by the position's supervisors or the directors, Teddi Jallow and Dr. Omar Bah.
Responsibilities:
Grant Administration: write and submit grant proposals, monitor and coordinate communication with submitted grants and their requirements, writing and reporting on outcomes of grant-funded projects, writing annual reports and marketing material, and work with the finance team to build appropriate budgets for projects and grant proposals
Ensure that all survey and assessment tools are created and administered
Ensure all trackers and evaluative tools for collecting data on services are utilized
Conduct impact interviews/profiles of participants from various programs
Process all data items, analyze, and draft reports
Write timely reports from data collection
Create a robust data collection toolkit and coordinate with staff to collect, maintain, and analyze data from case management, health promotion, youth mentorship, adult education programs, and similar organizational operations
Maintain data collection mechanisms to track all necessary evaluation/reporting information for grants, including ensuring compliance and timely completion of all awarded grants and reports
Collect project material, including photographs, videos, and graphic designs of ongoing projects for each existing project, maintain a project structure table that has a summary of what should be performed during the project period, service deliverables, and actionable items
Create procedure guides that show the process of how the daily duties of the ongoing projects are performed
Collaborate regularly with direct service staff and project specialists regarding project requirements, updates, and deadlines
Meet regularly with the supervisor to provide updates
Qualifications and Skill:
A master's degree and/or relevant experience in the field. Master's degree preferred
Possess an understanding of refugee resettlement and the perceptions about refugees in Rhode
Island
Possesses excellent writing, public relations, and speaking skills
Ability to identify learning opportunities for self and others, and take/recommend action
Ability to communicate and model the Refugee Dream Center's mission, values, and priorities to
staff and stakeholders
Ability to work independently and with teams, with great interpersonal skills, and to build core
leadership structures among team members
Ability to delegate work among staff and volunteers, holding them accountable for deadlines
Ability to empower staff and/or volunteers to take initiative and be creative
Be able to work with groups of people at varying levels and positions
Possesses problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly assess issues and develop new
strategies
Be proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Suite (Docs,
Sheets, Slides), as well as standard office equipment and related software tools
Able to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus while
dealing with interruptions
Be willing to learn and master Salesforce data management tool
Be creative, innovative, and able to take initiative
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an office and office settings. On occasions, work may be conducted outside the office for activities within the community. There may be occasional travel for home visits, attend meetings, and workshops.

Reports directly to the Executive Directors
