This position is located within the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Recreation Services Division. This position serves as a Program Manager responsible for the overall agency-wide planning and execution of the Department\'s core recreation offerings, including Aquatics, Community Recreation, and Community Programs. Duties and Responsibilities Exercises independent initiative and judgment; and takes or directs action as necessary in the overall administration of the program, keeping the Deputy Director of Recreation Services and DPR executive leadership advised as to nature of programs and services. Exercises overall authority for the development, implementation management and evaluation of processes involved in achieving defined goals. Provides oversite and management for site-based operations and special events. Regular collaborates with Department of General Services on matters related to capital construction and repairs as well as ongoing maintenance. Works closely with the public safety agencies to ensure DPR sites, programs, and special events provide a safe and welcoming environment for users and staff. Manages multiple MSS employees that lead divisions under their respective purview. Additional direct reports may include analysts, specialists, assistants, timekeepers, and program managers. Management includes providing day-to-day direction and developing performance plans with ongoing coaching and evaluation.Collaborates in annual budget formulation and manages expenditures for the division under their purview through spend plan development and monitoring though regular engagement with agency leadership and staff from the Office of Contracting and Procurement and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Qualifications and Education Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, or its non-District equivalent obtained from either the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience include program and/or project planning and management in the area of assigned responsibility; and leading process improvement teams related to service delivery, preferably in a government setting. The incumbent is required to possess a valid motor vehicle operator\'s permit. Other Significant Facts Tour of Duty: Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday; 8:15 a.m. \xe2\x80\x93 4:45 p.m. Duration of Appointment: Management Supervisory Service (MSS), \xe2\x80\x9cAt-Will\xe2\x80\x9d. All positions and appointments in the Management Supervisory Service serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause. Pay Plan, Series and Grade: MS-0340-15 Promotion Potential: No known promotion potential Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit. Position Designation: This position has been designated as security sensitive therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment.
