APPLY UNDER THE DOP WEBSITE: www.personnel.wv.gov Natural Resources Program Manager 1 - DNR - Kanawha Co. Wildlife/Game Management/Kanawha, Raleigh, and Wood County Under direction from the Assistant Chief in charge of game management, performs professional work at the managerial level and administers district game management operations at a Southern region level which includes DNR administrative Districts 4, 5 & 6. Responsibilities include planning and administration of the district game management program (Southern region), private lands management program and Elk Management program. In addition, will oversee activities and issues associated with wild boar. Supervises Wildlife Biologists, Wildlife Managers, Superintendents & clerical staff within the game management unit. Coordinates with the Supervisor of Game Management Services & Wildlife Biologists with game management services on matters relating to wildlife research, wildlife management and human dimensions research, and development of elk and black bear operational plans as well as other strategic and operational plans. In addition, coordinates with the Chief and Assistant Chiefs on issues relating to fisheries & wildlife management. Plans, directs, monitors, and evaluates district game management operations (Southern region) designed to achieve program goals & objectives. Duties include but are not limited to the following: administer all wildlife activities on 48 wildlife management areas, four state forests & three national forest cooperative management areas which are available for wildlife-associated recreation; monitor and analyze big game harvest statistics, assist with wildlife research efforts, communicate effectively with various members of the public, etc.; review, evaluate & make recommendations for potential land acquisitions; coordinate efforts to effectively deliver technical assistance to private landowners interested in managing their property for wildlife; solicit input from professional staff and the public on issues relating to the game management program (e.g., proposed hunting and trapping regulations; wildlife population trends, wildlife-associated recreation trends, wildlife research needs, public land management activities, etc.); prepare biologically sound recommendations for consideration and further action by wildlife administrators, the Natural Resources Commission, the State Legislature, the Governor\xe2\x80\x99s office and others as appropriate. Work requires significant technical knowledge and the ability to effectively analyze and interpret complex biological, sociological and Training: Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a major in wildlife or fisheries biology, fish culture, conservation biology, natural resources, aquatic biology, botany, biological sciences or environmental sciences. Preference will be given to educational and field experience as related to specific job postings. AND Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in wildlife, fishery management or related fields, two years of which must have been in a supervisory, administrative or professional capacity. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $47,287.00 - $87,480.00 per year Benefits:
