Job Description





Basic Function


HF Sinclair in Anacortes, WA is seeking a Production Supervisor. This position ensures safe production and environmental compliance during assigned shift for entire refinery using supporting Shift Team leaders. Provides leadership and works to increase bench strength through whole shift organization for their shift assignments. Ensures oil flow plans, operating targets and maintenance plans are being met through Shift Supervisors. Effectively communicates with counterparts to allow smooth transition of plant operation between shifts so that longer term goals for the organization are met. Facilitates Operations Excellence initiatives across all operations personnel at site.

Job Duties


  • Oversees all aspects of plant operation on shift for whole plant.
  • Ensures that shift activities are completed by those Shift teams, and a strong validate and verify work process is established. High level of Assurance for each shift team is required and adhered to.
  • Makes sure safe production targets met by shift; facilitating adherence to policies and procedures during normal operation, startups, shutdowns and emergencies.
  • Assure operator job performance optimized by shift supervision and that consistent coaching and appropriate and timely discipline administered.
  • Develop and work with each Shift Team leader to identify gaps and closure plans for teams and personnel.
  • Ensures environmental, health and safety compliance; communicates to the day staff organization and across shifts any potential unit problems, recommends actions to prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Coordinates and communicates initiation of incident investigation activities passed on from Shift Supervisors.
  • Awareness around product quality with assigned crews and that daily oil flow targets are met; coordinates troubleshooting to solve operating problems. Communicates these results to staff, organization and to other shifts.
  • Checks shift compliance with operating procedures and recording of on-shift event documentation in unit EoSR (End of Shift Reports). Reviews that certification and other training metrics met, MOC\xe2\x80\x99s reviewed, rounds completed and documented, procedures reviewed and followed, and other key shift performance metrics met.
  • Minimizes costs for running plant during a given shift, ensuring shift organization assumes shared responsibility for meeting Operations and Maintenance expense budgets; provide recommendations to supervision on cost-saving opportunities, drive optimizing budget and creative proactive solutions meeting budget.
  • Ensures activation of incident command as appropriate. Work across site and departments to reduce impact of any emergency event.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to train shift organization in overarching business impact of unit operations, develops bench strength through technical and soft skill coaching through Shift Supervisors
  • Ensures decision making done at the right level in the shift organization. Verifies with shift supervision growth in unit level ability and accountability to make \xe2\x80\x9cright level\xe2\x80\x9d decisions, creating feedback loop of effectiveness of those decisions.
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion


Experience


A minimum of 8 years of refinery operations background, general knowledge of maintenance protocol, and strong understanding of refinery unit interrelationships. Supervisory experience relative to refinery operation.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience as Shift Team leader is strongly recommended.


Education Level


A minimum of a High School Diploma is required.

Required Skills


Ability to constructively direct and drive quality work from a number of resources, in the absence of having direct supervisory responsibility of the resources needed. Ability to optimize production through encouraging organization to identify and solve problems related to the operation of our assets within assigned area. Ability to handle high visibility projects and activities, high pressure situations, and long hours while maintaining a positive and constructive attitude. Exceptional team player with ability to effectively communicate with others through written and verbal communication. Ability to constructively interact with all levels of staff including engineers, operators, shift and maintenance personnel. Intermediate computer skills, intermediate reading and writing skills and the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations. Strength in developing staff\xe2\x80\x99s troubleshooting, technical, and soft skills.
Preferred Skills
Leadership training for hourly or operations personnel, with demonstrated strength in soft skills and ability to grow technical and leadership in others.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility


Responsible for the direct supervision of up to 5-7 employees, indirect supervision of up to 90 employees

Work Conditions


Office and Refinery/Industrial environment based with up to 5% travel by land and air is required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors, and driver based environment, including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment. Subject to all weather, temperatures, and varying road conditions. Subject to occasional weekend and after hour call-outs, and working in confined spaces.

Salary Range: The salary range includes the minimum and maximum base salary values. A candidate\'s offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience. This position has a salary minimum of $108,700.00 and maximum of $195,600.00.
