Position Summary:

Thermo Fisher has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager, based in our Carlsbad, CA office. The Product Manager will help manage the Delivery portfolio within Cell Biology business unit as part of Biosciences division. Our Delivery solutions enable scientists to modify cells for research, therapeutic development and GMP commercial manufacturing. This position will play a key role in managing a market leading portfolio including in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo delivery(transfection) reagent and instrument solutions under Lipofectamine\xe2\x84\xa2, Vivofectamine\xe2\x84\xa2 and Neon\xe2\x84\xa2 brands. As the Product Manager of Delivery, you will be responsible for managing product life cycle, improving product mix, assisting in the development of existing and new products and market segments, and work closely with our commercial team and key customers meet and improve customers\xe2\x80\x99 needs on delivery solutions. The role will ensure that our portfolio meets the needs of our growing customer base and executes portfolio strategic initiatives to achieve the annual revenue and profitability growth plan.

A Day in Life :

  • Develop and evolve business strategies to drive growth and expansion of the portfolio.
  • Lead and work on collaborative projects within the business segment team and with other functional stakeholders across the organization such as finance, marketing, research and development, commercial, strategy, business development, operations and legal.
  • Scope, execute and report out on special projects that may involve business plan creation, market assessment, voice-of-customer, financial analysis, and practical process improvement (PPI). Set and meet milestones and timelines. Maintain a robust cadence for planning and review mechanisms with relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive successful product, service, and digital solution launches by collaborating closely with cross-\xc2\xacfunctional and cross-business teams.
  • Support operational improvement activities working with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, R&D and Finance, providing business guidance on operation prioritization and efficiency.
  • Research and develop new market applications and digital tools to improve customer journey, as well as constantly innovating towards portfolio expansion into emerging market segments such as in vivo gene delivery for cell and gene therapy markets.
  • Proactively gather industry, market, competitor, supplier, and product intelligence related to the business segment\xe2\x80\x99s interests within the Biotech, Biopharma and Research markets.
  • Create and implement operating mechanisms to improve business team effectiveness.
  • Interface with leadership within the business unit and in other functions within the company.
Keys to Success:
Education
  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences and/or business discipline. Graduate degree or MBA preferred.
Experience
  • 3-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a product management, strategic consulting, marketing, project management, life science commercial or research and development roles.
  • Experience in life science product or services launch, nucleic acid delivery for vaccine and therapeutics, or regulated market is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong business acumen, financial, analytical, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail.
  • Creative, passionate, result-driven, other-oriented, curious and able to lead without authority.
  • Self-starter with the ability to create and execute plans with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in matrix organizational structure.

Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $113,500.00\xe2\x80\x93$155,000.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
