Northrop Grumman has an exciting opening for a Principal Technical Editor and Writer to join our team in Mesa, Arizona.

Responsibilities of this role:

• Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
• Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
• Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
• Conducts quality review of materials.

Minimum qualifications:

• This position emphasizes skills first.
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, plus 6 years of writing/editing technical documents experience, or, master\xe2\x80\x99s degree plus 4 years of experience.
• In the absence of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree, we may consider a 2-year vocational/technical training, plus 8 years of relevant experience, or 10 years of experience post-high school.
• Mechanical technical procedure writing.
• Understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred software experience: Raytheon EAGLE and EPS software, TeamCenter UA, QuickSilver (Interleaf) and Illustrations using NX and Adobe illustrator, MIL-STD-40051.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical systems and sub-systems involving gears, clutches, solenoids and cams

Salary Range: $67,800 USD - $101,600 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
