Explore your future and launch your career today. #definingpossible Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Technical Editor & Writer to join our team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The selected candidate will be responsible for interfacing with individual teams and should demonstrate very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain cooperation and work effectively with others. The candidate must be able to understand management direction to generate deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and orchestrate people, resources, and tasks dealing with advanced subject matter. The position includes authoring and/or editing technical documents such as Air Force technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing the performance of production methods, and referring to Air Force technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. Conducts quality reviews of materials. This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4, depending on the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s experience as laid out in the basic qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment. Basic Qualifications Level 3:
  • 6 Years of technical writing experience with a Bachelors; 4 Years of technical writing experience with Masters; 10+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Must have Active/Current/Interim Secret level security clearance or higher to be considered** [US Citizenship is required].
  • Demonstrated competency in desktop and publishing applications should include the following: Knowledge of Air Force Technical Orders, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Suite
  • Other knowledge, skills, and experience include proofing and editing.
  • Interpreting engineering documentation, including wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Conducting customer reviews and incorporating review comments
Level 4:
  • 10 Years of technical writing experience with a Bachelors; 8 Years of technical writing experience with Masters; 14+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Must have Active/Current/Interim Secret level security clearance or higher to be considered** [US Citizenship is required].
  • Demonstrated competency in desktop and publishing applications should include the following: Knowledge of Air Force Technical Orders, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Suite
  • Other knowledge, skills, and experience include proofing and editing.
  • Interpreting engineering documentation, including wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Conducting customer reviews and incorporating review comments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Military Standards
  • Military background or experience documenting Radar or targeting systems.
  • Adobe FrameMaker
  • BMEWS / PARCS Weapon System program documentation experience researching data.
This position\xe2\x80\x99s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. As a full-time employee of Northrop Grumman Space Systems, you are eligible for our robust benefits package including:

Salary Range: $71,400 USD - $107,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $88,500 USD - $132,700 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
