Position Summary: Elevate your teaching practice as part of Professional Corps and help your students achieve incredible growth. As a Professional Corps member, you\'ll take what you already do in your classroom, and combine it with the data and interventions of Early Learning Corps. With regular coaching and specialized training in research-based interventions, you\xe2\x80\x99ll enhance daily literacy and math opportunities for students. We are currently recruiting Professional Corps members for the 2023-24 school year, with the option of beginning in August, October or January. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Early Learning Corps and you\xe2\x80\x99ll be joining an amazing team of Minnesota teachers, paras and aides. Together, we\xe2\x80\x99re on a mission to help our youngest learners get ready for school! What to Expect:
  • Engage your class in research-based literacy and math activities to build skills and confidence.
  • Provide additional one-on-one and small group support using scripted early literacy and math strategies.
  • Collaborate with coaches to monitor student progress and see what\xe2\x80\x99s working.
  • Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data management software.
  • Respond to feedback and commit to continuous improvement through coaching, training and professional development.
  • Represent Early Learning Corps at school-sponsored activities and share your experience with the wider community to help build awareness.

  • The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child, or stepchild.
What it Takes: To participate in Professional Corps, you need to be a classroom teacher, paraprofessional or aide working with students ages 3-5 \xe2\x80\x93 and meet the following minimum qualifications. By the time they begin their service, our members are:
  • Recommended by the principal, school administrator or supervisor
  • Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*
  • Able to successfully complete a background check
  • Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.
