Power Systems Applications Engineer

Our electrical engineering and design client currently has an opening for a Power Systems Applications Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
\xc2\xb7 Review specifications, proposals, estimates, and other contract documents to develop submittal packages consisting of drawings and BOMs.
\xc2\xb7 Interpret customer specifications and drawings and have in-depth dealer/consultant interaction.
\xc2\xb7 Approve designs for switchgear and generator control systems created by CAD Designers for submission to customer.
\xc2\xb7 Design protective relaying schemes for switchgear.
\xc2\xb7 Finalize power envelope designs for medium and low voltage systems
\xc2\xb7 Work with consultants and customers to gain production approval on submittal packages.
\xc2\xb7 Support inside and outside sales team members with technical solutions and guidance.
\xc2\xb7 Support production engineers for successful transition from submittals to production.
\xc2\xb7 Present clear detailed designs for production engineers to execute.
\xc2\xb7 Experience in the design of low and medium voltage switchgear.
\xc2\xb7 Research new part requirements, read manuals and contact vendors to ensure successful implementation.
Basic Requirements
\xc2\xb7 Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET)
\xc2\xb7 Minimum four years work experience or six to eight years equivalent work experience in Power Solutions in lieu of degree
\xc2\xb7 Basic understanding of protective relays, their functions and proper applications.
\xc2\xb7 Basic understanding of PLC / SCADA communications networks and protocols.
\xc2\xb7 Basic understanding of NEC, UL, ANSI and other standards.
\xc2\xb7 Basic understanding of generator controls and limitations.
\xc2\xb7 Previous Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or E-Plan a plus
\xc2\xb7 Ability to manage overlapping requirements of multiple projects to meet milestones.
\xc2\xb7 Computer proficient including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
\xc2\xb7 Excellent oral and written communication skills.
\xc2\xb7 Advanced organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
\xc2\xb7 Must be a self-starter motivated towards continuous improvement.
Top Candidate Will Also Have:
\xc2\xb7 Experience with Caterpillar generator sets in Parallel with one or more Utilities a plus
\xc2\xb7 Detailed understanding of protective relays, their functions and proper applications.
\xc2\xb7 Detailed understanding of PLC / SCADA communications networks and protocols.
\xc2\xb7 Detailed understanding of NEC, UL, ANSI and other standards.
\xc2\xb7 Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or E-Plan
Position requires minimal travel, typically 0%-10%, to support sales staff.
