Staff Systems Applications Engineer - Power Management

Where You\'ll Work & The Scope:

Vishay Siliconix is a leader in the development of power management solutions for computing, consumer, industrial, automotive, and medical applications. We are currently looking for a Staff Systems Application Engineer to join our growing team in San Jose, California, that is involved in projects of integrated circuits at the heart of modern power systems. In this position, the successful candidate will work with an experienced team and be exposed to the entire product lifecycle. How You\'ll Help Us Build the DNA of Tech:

The Systems Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the company\'s sales staff and customers. Work on applications evaluation of products in development to ensure they meet the specifications and requirements of our customers and their applications. Support the team resolving product technical issues reported by customers by providing guidance and assistance to other Application Engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for evaluation and reference board designs, evaluation test plan definitions, device evaluations, evaluation report and development of datasheets, application notes, field sales training materials, software demonstrations, and related collateral.
  • Assist in design win support with FAE\'s and directly with customers (schematic and layout review, system verification, application notes, application related issues, system debugging and design review)
  • Interface with R&D staff to perform product verification.
  • Support engineering and assist QA to troubleshoot customer returns.
  • Work closely with analog designers, digital designers, systems architecture, firmware, application, and test engineering to specify, design, develop and manage an evaluation system for complex power IC test platforms.
  • Work cooperatively with our Strategic Marketing, R&D, & Business Development groups to guarantee that products meet specification and the developing needs of our customers.
  • Development of lab automation, including the control of instruments to ensure repeatability of bench-level regression test results, with automated data collection and test-case scoring.
  • Track and report progress of the projects against key milestones.
Responsibilities also include:
  • Technical review and maintenance of product documents.
  • Assisting FAE\'s and customer\'s engineers in product selection.
  • Study, benchmark and evaluate competition\'s products.
  • Write technical documents (Application notes, White Papers, Technical article).
  • Propose specific new products for development.
  • Track and report progress of the projects against key milestones.
Experience:

Successful candidates will have most of the following:
  • 5+ year experience with working knowledge of power management solutions at the IC and application-level.
  • Experience in customer and FAE technical support in power application designs.
  • Expertise of full-product evaluation including HW, SW, FW etc.
  • Experience of IC evaluation/verification.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • The ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Education Level: Bachelor\'s degree in Electronics Engineering or similar, MSEE preferred.

Travel Required: Yes, 5% of the Time
