Position Information


The Power Generator/Mechanical Repairer repairs, overhauls, inspects and maintains a variety of engine-driven power support systems, including electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components and appurtenant equipment as a primary assignment; repairs, overhauls, inspects and maintains a variety of mechanical equipment and related items; and performs other related duties as required.

Current Vacancy Information:
There are two (2) vacancies with the Department of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division, located in Honolulu.

Under the general direction and supervision of the Lead Mechanical Repairer, this position
  • Operates and performs maintenance, inspections, repairs and diagnoses of power support systems ranging in capacities from 5 kilowatt to 1 megawatt electrical power generators;
  • Participates in the repair, overhaul, testing and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical equipment and related items such as roll-up doors, mechanical doors, jail cell doors, fuel dispensing pumps, pumps, sump pumps, compressors, electric motors, concrete mixers, groundskeeping and custodial equipment and other small construction and maintenance equipment for all facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department of Facility Maintenance.
  • Applies applicable safety practices, rules and procedures and perform all duties in a safe and acceptable manner.

Special Working Conditions: This position is required to have unescorted access to the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment related to a traffic management center requires a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check prior to assignment to this position authorized by HRS 846-2.7 (b)(37) and in accordance with JTMC Policy No. 2016-B.06, Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and CHRC Clearance. This position serves as a disaster response worker.

Minimum Qualification Requirements


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position. The experience and training must have included one year of work in the repair, maintenance and overhaul of a variety of engine-driven generators, including electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components and appurtenant equipment.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid Hawaii driver\xe2\x80\x99s license (Type 3) prior to appointment.
