Job Description


POSITION SUMMARY
MEPPI\'s Critical Power Solitons Division (CPS) is looking for an Operations Manager to manage the production, manufacturing, purchasing, order entry, material planning, shipping, receiving and factory maintenance functions. In addition, the successful candidate will focus on safely delivering high quality CPSD products that meet customer requirements and commitments and maintaining positive employee relations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the Operations Department for production, scheduling, manufacturing, planning, testing and logistics of CPSD products to meet customer commitments. Manage all activities with an emphasis on safety, positive employee relations, efficiency and quality.
  • Manage all activities related to CPSD Supply Chain including the review and signing of purchase orders per the MEPPI LOA Policy.
  • Develop and implement production improvement projects involving process control, manufacturing flow, factory layout and equipment, capacity and productivity targeting quality, cost and delivery performance.
  • Manage, measure, and assess production job labor content to set process standards and evaluate variances. Publish labor and efficiency data as well as other metrics relevant to the assessment and improvement of production activities.
  • Lead the implementation of manufacturing plans that support the LAV and testing of peripherals, and CPSD systems and products. Support the assembly of prototypes, as needed.
  • Manage the evaluation of work force utilization and operational data such as budgets, process flow charts, inventory turns, inventory costs, supplier performance, production schedules and outbound transportation costs. Minimize manufacturing costs and maximize the productive and efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Plan the CPSD master production schedule to meet customer site dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders based on labor and material constraints and communicate those schedules to CPSD management, office and shop personnel as needed.
  • Manage the supply chain function to include negotiating with suppliers and major subcontractors on price, lead times, delivery times, and back-to-back terms and conditions, as needed, to support peripherals and projects.
  • Manage the manufacturing function to include inventory to acceptable \xe2\x80\x98turns\xe2\x80\x99 ratio as directed, as well as shipping and receiving. Analyze movement of inventory and make recommendations on inventory levels and disposition of \xe2\x80\x98inactive\xe2\x80\x99 or \xe2\x80\x98obsolete\xe2\x80\x99 inventory.
  • Lead Next Generation Sourcing activities within CPSD to promote enterprise-wide information sharing across Divisions, supplier communication/qualification standardization, leveraged sourcing, and cost management
  • Manage the Operations and Supply Chain staffs according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training and providing continued education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
  • Provide support to the activities of the Safety Committee and the company\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Program.
  • Prepare and manage the Operations and Supply Chain Department budgets.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Company by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field with a minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and a minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in the manufacturing of made-to-order products, inventory management, warehousing and the management of suppliers.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors and customers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products.
