The Repairer, Traffic Signal II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, components and parts such as electro-mechanical controllers, detection devices, electronic controllers. Duties
Works in shop assembling, adjusting and testing new traffic signals and salvaging components and parts for already used traffic signals. I
Works outside performing preventive and corrective maintenance and assisting in the installation of new and replacement traffic signals and components parts.
Helps train Repairer Traffic Signal I.
Conducts weekly safety inspections.
Serves as on-site lead for Traffic Repairer I but does not serve as supervisor.
May drive bucket truck or pickup truck to work sites.
Once on site, ascends and descends poles or rides in bucket.
Strings and secures traffic signal wires and cable.
Digs pole hole with manual or power diggers.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or the equivalent.
Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to perform assigned tasks.
Must possess Class B driver\'s license.
Two (2) years training and experience as Traffic Signal Repairer I, or related experience.
Thorough knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices issued by U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highways Administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Must be able to climb ladders, reach, stoop, and kneel, all while lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing moderately heavy loads. 2. Requires hand motions include grasping and turning. Requires the senses of touch, seeing, hearing, and speaking, all of which may be performed under difficult physical conditions. 3. Requires color, sound, depth, and visual perception and discrimination. Must communicate orally. 4. May work in bucket truck and lift. 5. Job must be performed with or without accommodations. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. A significant portion of the work is performed in the field where exposure to electrical shock, traffic hazards, and variable weather conditions are common. 2. As required, may be assigned to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Work includes periodic standby duty assignments.
Travel: Travel will be required locally from location to location to accomplish job assignments and visit job sites.
