Summary: The Payroll Clerk processes payroll for all companies and is the first line of contact for staff for payroll and workers compensation.

This position is currently located on-site only at the moment.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees procedures and processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll.
  • Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions through Paylocity.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Maintains or oversees the employee records including employee changes into payroll system (new hires, terms) and EEOC compliance data
  • Record data on change sheet
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures
  • Request money transfers from Finance
  • Payroll Transmittal and Retirement funding
  • Provides Finance with relevant trends and insights
  • Assist the Safety Manager with Workers Compensation claims with Insurance Company, including follow up
  • Expedite performance paperwork, track and process including pay raises
  • Assists with Employee Relations related to payroll
  • Update forms
  • Recommend to Director, Human Resources when it becomes apparent that a supervisor and/or employee should be counseled and intervention would be in the best interest of all
  • Tracks PTO and sick time
  • Timecard audits
  • Processes unemployment claims
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor\'s degree preferably in Human Resource Management, Finance or Business; or equivalent experience of 2 or more years of payroll processing for a staff of 200 or more employees. Experience with payroll processing for multiple divisions with multiple payroll codes. Experience working in an HR Department with entry level HR knowledge preferred.

TRAINING, SKILLS, LICENSES: Administrative experience is required. Excellent communication and organization skills. Type at least 45 wpm, Proficient in MS Office, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with Paylocity preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is located in an office environment with moderate to low noise levels and is typically sedentary. Daily use of a computer and phone system is necessary as well as interaction with staff, candidates and vendors.
