Job Description


FUNCTION The benefit and payroll clerk is responsible for performing hourly payroll and various other clerical and administrative duties including benefit administration. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Maintain daily payroll records on employees.
  • Provide benefit plan material and assist in enrollment in various programs throughout the employment life cycle.
  • Act as intermediary between leave plan administrator and employee.
  • Provide guidance on day-to-day benefit questions.
  • Ensure benefit elections and declinations are properly recorded in payroll and benefit administration system.
  • Review hourly employee pay sheets for errors.
  • Generate error reports for supervisors.
  • Compute and record hourly payroll.
  • Maintain vacation and bonus hour accuracy for employees.
  • Verify check register accuracy.
  • Tie payroll accounts to general ledger.
  • Assist with calculations and distribution of hourly annual profit-sharing checks.
  • Organize records to be sent for storage.
  • Supply employee data for workman compensation claims, wage information for loan applications, grievances, etc. for Human Resources.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of goals and plans of action consistent with company objectives.
