Summary of Job Duties: Full Time

The Patient Services Associate is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The PSA works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PSA must pass the required competencies. The PSA works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PSA adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School, GED or formal educational equivalent OR Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman desired
• One (1) year of Patient Care and/or Healthcare Clerical experience in a health care setting
• CPR Certification (BCLS) within 3 months of employment
• Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire
• Computer experience desired
• Ability to communicate with staff, patient/families following Guest CARE guidelines
• Ability to follow Oral Instructions, Read and Write

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

• Assists with processing of bulk storage, peripheral sticks, daily pod audits, blood culture processing, glucometer checks, act as a preceptor for new PCT\xe2\x80\x99s,
• Assists the charge nurse with other assigned duties.
• Attends the Unit Based Counsel and to be a good role model/leader to the patient care technicians
