Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time performing tasks such as data entry; repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 10 lbs.


Shift
Monday through Friday; Choice from the following schedule: 7:00 am \xe2\x80\x93 3:30 pm, 7:30am \xe2\x80\x93 4:00 pm, or 8:00 am \xe2\x80\x93 4:30 pm.


Job Summary
Under the direction of the PFS Enterprise Specialty Billing Manager and Special Billing Supervisor, the Patient Financial Services Representative is responsible for the billing, collection and resolution of prison/jail accounts, Organ Acquisition accounts, Executive Health and KODA (Kentucky Organ Donor Association) accounts. This involves daily contact with county jail & KY Medicaid representatives, State offices and internal UK personnel as appropriate. The representative is expected to be familiar with Hospital and departmental policies and procedures and able to utilize all resources within the Hospital and department to accomplish the assigned job duties. The position will also provide customer service to payers, patients and families to help ensure that UKHC collects sufficient cash necessary to support healthcare operations, and participate in unit and enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety and patient satisfaction.

This position is fully remote.

This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID -19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID -19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.


Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess in-depth HIPAA knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; have obtained Microsoft Office (including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) proficiency; possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience
Associate degree; third-party insurance claims follow-up/collections experience; and medical office, and/or clerical work preferred. Previous experience working with patient accounts and HIPAA, as well as CAC certification and SOAR training highly preferred.
