Customer Service Specialist - Patient Financial Services

Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.000000 | Full Time | Primarily Mon - Fri / 8AM - 5PM

Position Summary

The Customer Service Specialist answers all incoming calls and emails to Patient Financial Services and assists patients and/or insurance companies with questions and concerns regarding professional and hospital billing by performing account analysis to deliver a seamless customer services experience across a broad range of touch points. The Customer Service Specialist also resolves all account inquiries received in a prompt and accurate fashion; and utilizes medical billing knowledge as well as collection workflows to effectively collect from and provide financial resources to patients/insurance.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is required.
  • Associate degree in business, finance, or related field, preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service, medical finance, patient registration, or credit collections experience (preferably in a hospital billing setting) is required
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare regulations and general knowledge of hospital billing practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills with demonstrated compassion and empathy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, basic math skills, demonstrated computer skills, and ability to multi-task.
